Found in the heart of the Lake District, this guest house is within walking distance of Windermere and Bowness.
Bowness is the ideal base for mountain climbing, canoeing, sailing, walking or just relaxing and enjoying the scenery. A gentle stroll takes you to the shops in Windermere and Bowness, together with restaurants and bars. Alternatively enjoy a round of golf in the superb surroundings at the Windermere Golf Club.
Why not see the original art work and mini village museum dedicated to Beatrix Potter and her work. Coniston, Grasmere and Ambleside are also within driving distance and are perfect for shopping.
Alternatively visit the Brockhole with 30 acres to enjoy, including woodland, gardens and adventure playgrounds open all year followed by picnic or coffee on the outdoor terrace cafe.
Be amazed by the new changes at the South Lakes Wild Animal Park including aerial walkways and viewpoints. Walk amongst 100 lemurs living wild in the park.
Advice is on hand for those wishing to sight-see, walk or tour the area.

By Car:
- Leave the M6 at junction 36.
- Follow the A591 to Windermere (do not leave A591).
- When you arrive at Windermere, turn left at the Nat West bank and follow the one way system through the village for the Lake.
- After about 800 metres turn left into Thornbarrow Road, immediately after the pedestrian crossing.
- Thornbank is 30 metres further up on the left. We have a blue sign.
Car parking is available at the house.
By Train:
- The mainline connection to Windermere is Oxenholme. The connection from Oxenholme to Windermere takes 20 minutes.
Car hire can be arranged for delivery to Windermere station or Thornbank House.
